The mountain was named "Island Peak in 1952, its located in the middle of the Chhukung valley, like an Island on a sea of ice, it was popular with name of "Imja Tse" in the early '80s. Island Peak (6,189m) is one of the main climbing peaks in Everest Region with an impressive icy face that climb from the Lhotse Glacier.
