Gokyo Valley trek beginsfrom Lukla, you will fly into one of the most impressive airports in the Himalaya. Gokyo Valley Trekking. To arrive at the Gokyo Valley, you will follow the Dudh Kosi River from the Sherpa villages of Namche Bazaar and Khumjung. This trek is less-traveled than the traditional route to Kalapathar and Everest Base Camp. The day hike up Gokyo Ri, 5,360m, is one of the highpoints of the Gokyo Valley trek. From the Ri, you can observe the vast Ngozumpa Glacier and enjoy the panorama views of four of the world's highest peaks above 8,000m - Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu and Makalu. Return to Namche Bazaar via the Sherpa villages of Phortse and the great Tyangboche Monastery.

Outline Itinerary

  • Day 1Fly to Lukla at 2,840m and trek to Phakding at 2,610m (3 hours).
  • Day 2Trek to Namche bazar - 3,440m (3 hr).
  • Day 3Rest at Namche for acclimatization. Early morning visit to the Everest viewpoint for a splendid view of the Himalayan sunrise.
  • Day 4Trek to Dole - 4,200m. (5-6 hours).
  • Day 5Trek to Machhermo - 4,470m (6 hours).
  • Day 6Trek to Gokyo - 4,790m. (4 to 5 hours).
  • Day 7Excursion to Gokyo Ri - 5,360m. Machhermo (6-7 hours).
  • Day 8Trek to Phortse - 3,800m (6 hours).
  • Day 9Trek to Tyangboche -3,867m (5-6 hours).
  • Day 10Trek to Jorsale/Monjo - 2,800m. (5-6 hr).
  • Day 11Trek to Lukla (5 to 6 hours).
  • Day 12Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu, trip ends.
